Alliance launches National Week of Play
By Rachel Lawler
The Alliance is launching a National Week of Play, aiming to encourage early years professionals to put play at the heart of their practice and support parents to explore new play ideas.
The week of action comes after many months of necessary restrictions on children's play in the pandemic, with parks, soft play centres and many parent and toddler groups closed for much of the past year. While the full impact of the pandemic on children's development is still emerging, all early years practitioners will know how vital play is to their learning.
Taking place from 21-27 June, the week will see providers given tips, advice and inspiration for prioritising play in their settings.
Parents will also be given advice and new ideas to try with their children at home.
The Alliance will also be running four online session about play and hosting a Play Panel, with speakers including Helen Moylett, Cathy Nutbrown, Nancy Stewart and Anni McTavish.
The Alliance is currently working on an EduCare course on play for early years practitioners.
