Practitioners asked for views on EYFS Reforms
By Rachel Lawler
The Early Years Coalition has launched a new survey calling for practitioners’ views on the guidance needed to support the revised Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
The Coalition is hoping to create a revised version of the 2021 EYFS guidance Development Matters using the feedback gathered by the survey. It aims to keep the best elements of the guidance while updating and improving it where needed.
The new guidance will be known as ‘Birth to 5 Matters’.
Beatrice Merrick, chief executive of Early Education and chair of the Coalition, said: “The process of developing the guidance will give practitioners opportunities for active involvement in producing guidance and resources that support practice, that reflect their pedagogic principles and that bring together research and practice knowledge.”
The Department for Education is olanning to change the EYFS in 2021. Early adopters are able to use the revised version from September 2020 onward.
The government says the changes will improve outcomes for all children, but particularly the language and literacy outcomes for disadvantaged children and reduce teacher workload.
