Early years funding petition closes early
By Rachel Lawler
A calling for an increase to early years funding rates has been closed early due to parliament being dissolved ahead of the general election.
Shortly before closing, the petition passed the 10,000 signatures needed in order to get a response from the government.
While the government cannot respond to petitions during the election period, as this one has more than 10,000 signatures the new government will have to decide whether or not it will respond after the election.
All petitions on the parliament website closed at 00.01 on 6 November as parliament dissolved and will no reopen. The site also cannot currently accept any new petitions.
The election will take place on 12 December with MPs expected to return to parliament on 23 December.
