The Alliance has launched a new online training programme on the Characteristics of Effective Teaching and Learning, available to access for free for all Alliance members and their teams.

 

The programme explores the ways that children learn and guides practitioners through ‘Playing and exploring’, ‘Active learning’, and ‘Creating and thinking critically’. It covers how to better understand and observe the way children learn, rather than just what they learn, in professional early years roles. Practical scenarios and examples of reflective thought for each area support practitioners to provide stimulating resources and experiences for children that will encourage them to learn effectively.

 

Alliance quality and standards manager Melanie Pilcher explains: “How children learn is as important as what they learn. When practitioners understand this, they are best placed to support children to reach their full potential.”
