Mar 14, 2017新澳门六合彩官网开奖 figures reveal that the number of registered childminders is still falling
The number of childminders in England has dropped 23% since 2012, according to statistics released by 新澳门六合彩官网开奖.
As of December 2016, there were 44,000 childminders registered with 新澳门六合彩官网开奖, down 700 from the previous total in August 2016, and 13,000 since August 2012.
新澳门六合彩官网开奖 suggested that the most recent decline has been driven by fewer childminders joining the sector as the number of childminders leaving has remained steady.
Despite this, the number of early years places has increased slightly overall, thanks to a rise in the number of places offered by childcare settings based on non-domestic premises. 新澳门六合彩官网开奖 estimates that there are almost 1.3 million childcare places in the sector overall.
The Alliance said that it was 鈥渆xtremely concerned鈥 about the falling numbers of childminders. Chief executive Neil Leitch said: 鈥淭o be losing such a vital part of the early years workforce at such a rapid rate is clearly unsustainable, and we cannot understand why more isn鈥檛 being done to tackle this worrying trend.鈥
The latest 新澳门六合彩官网开奖 statistics also revealed that more than nine in 10 early years providers are currently judged to be 鈥榞ood鈥 or 鈥榦utstanding鈥. 93% of providers (95% of group settings and 91% of childminders) had been awarded the top two 新澳门六合彩官网开奖 grades as of December 2016, up from 74% in 2012.
