Alliance announces line-up for second annual virtual Family Festival

Family Corner, the family arm of leading early years organisation the Early Years Alliance, has announced its line-up for its second, free online family led festival, with a range of virtual sessions running from Thursday 22 to Saturday 24 February 2024.

Home is where the start is: Communication counts, is aimed at parents and carers of children under five and will focus on how they can support their child’s communication and language development.

The three-day event, celebrating the role of parents and carers as their child’s first and most ensuring educators, will be led by BBC’s Tiny Happy People and children’s television presenter Annie Price. It will include sessions on bilingualism, Makaton and music, movement, rhythm and rhyme and much more.

Families will be able to sign up to as many, or as few, free sessions as they wish.

The event is supported by the Department for Education’s Voluntary and Community Sector Fund and families can sign up to the event here:

Commenting, Julie Pearson, early years development manager at the Early Years Alliance, said: "At the Alliance, we know that the earliest years are crucial when it comes to children's development - particularly in supporting their speech, language and communication- and the role that families play in this is extremely important.

"As such, our second annual Family Festival will celebrate the role of parents and carers as their child's first and most important educator with a variety of sessions packed full of ideas and advice ranging from cookery and wellbeing sessions to an insight into baby brain development. We hope you can join us for what hopes to be an exciting and engaging few days.
