Dinosaur week.
Following the children’s interests the pre-school room had a dinosaur theme week. They dug for dinosaur bones. Stomped around in a gooey swap and were very excited to have a visit from a dinosaur.

Fundraising
During the Easter holidays the children had taken part in a nature scavenger hunt. The children and parents helped raise money to update our garden/outdoor areas.
A big thank you to all who donated.

Home learning.
During the lockdown we provided children who couldn’t attend with a home learning pack, we added a variety of resources and ideas to continue their learning at home.

Home learning.
The pre-school staff set a home learning challenge for their children, each child had been given a country from the Euro 2020 and had to create that countries flag. They were asked to be as creative as possible.

World Ocean day.
The children had taken part in litter picking activity during World Ocean day. The children learnt that it’s important to throw our litter in the bin so it doesn’t harm our sea life. The children were very excited about collecting the litter and talking about different types of sea creatures.
They all did an excellent job!

Sports Day
We hosted our own mini Olympics which included, a warm up session, bag race, long jump, beanbag throwing, egg and spoon, a race and an obstacle course. All the children loved taking part and were dressed in their team colours. Overall team England won on the day.

Leaver’s Party

The children all had great fun at our seaside themed leavers party exploring the sand pit, rock pools and our paddling pool, we are sad to say goodbye to the children who are going to school but wish them all the best for the future as they start on the next step of their education.

Thank-you to all their parents who have supported us.

About us

Langley Mill Childcare offers a stimulating approach to early years development and learning for very young children. Within a safe, friendly and fun environment, children are supported by qualified, caring staff in developing a wide range of skills and interests.

The children enjoy learning through play experiences in bright indoor and outdoor play areas with exciting outings planned regularly.

We are managed by the Alliance, the largest voluntary sector provider of childcare in England with over 50 years experience delivering childcare and practical, professional support to early years practitioners.

Our nursery plans its activities in accordance with the EYFS with a strong focus on exploratory, imaginative play and healthy eating. We recognise and understand the huge benefits that free flow play has on the positive development of very young children. Every child in our care is supported by a key person who understands their individual needs and offers special care and support to them.

Rigorous health & safety and safeguarding policies and procedures are in place to ensure that every child is protected and feels safe and happy with us.

Our Team

Our well qualified, committed and experienced team work hard to create a caring and learning environment in the nursery. We know that every child develops differently and at different times. Every child has a key person who understands their individual needs and interests. This helps us to ensure that every child feels involved, stimulated and happy in our care.

We follow rigorous staff recruitment, selection and supervision procedures to ensure that anyone joining our team undertakes relevant security checks including Disclosure and Barring Service disclosure, references and qualification checks. Parents are reassured knowing that child protection and safeguarding underpins every aspect of our practice and will continue to remain a priority for us.

Your child's 'key person'

Every child who joins the nursery receives support from an experienced member of the team. They are responsible for your child’s individual needs and known as the ‘key person’. The key person is your main point of contact however all nursery staff are happy to feedback on your child’s developmental progress on a daily basis or discuss any concerns with you. They will also keep records of your child’s progress and achievement, which are always available for you to see and contribute towards.

Your child’s key person will make time to find out from you about your child’s interests, likes, dislikes and special requirements. Please share any important or useful information when you register your child and throughout their time with us. This helps us to give your child the most appropriate care and learning to suit their developmental, emotional and physical needs. You can access and contribute your views to your child's progress and achievements in their records.

What qualifications do your staff have?

All our staff are fully qualified, or working towards a childcare qualification, as defined by the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø¿ª½± Daycare Standards (please ask to see certificates).

How quickly can my child start?

We are keen that every child feels settled, happy and secure in our childcare. We want to make the big step from home into childcare a positive experience for everyone.

Once your child is offered a place, you and your child start a ‘settling in’ process that is based on your child’s needs.

We help your child settle comfortably by:

  • Recognising that some children take longer to settle than others.
  • Encouraging your child to develop a special relationship with their key person so they feel secure in our care.
  • Introducing your child to our daily routine and the environment at different times of the day so they feel reassured and familiar with different sessions.
  • Making you feel welcome to stay with your child at the beginning over a period of time and different times of the day. Over time you can gradually spend longer periods apart until your child is ready to start their daily session without you.
  • Talking with you regularly about the best way to settle your child and listening to your queries or concerns. We want you to feel confident and relaxed when you leave your child in our care.
  • Your child only officially starts with us when they complete their first short session happily without you.

What our parents have to say....

Sarah says: "The nursery has always been very supportive and the SEND staff have been key to Leo's development and have opened doors to ensure he has had the best start."

Natalie says "My daughter loves coming and the staff are always helpful and accommodating"

Jade comments "Just want to thank Jemma & Alesha for bringing Scarlett out of her shell and making nursery really enjoyable for her"

Rosemary is so pleased with this nursery, she says "Excellent caring staff who are always pleased to see you and your child. Quality of care is excellent and the nursery has an opportunity for parents to come and see for themselves what the children are doing and encourage us to join in so we can carry on with the activities at home."

Bramley says "This is by far the best nursery in the area, they build excellent relationships with your children and put on a great range of activities which are focused on their development. The staff are friendly and welcoming and have always remained the same. The managers are always helpful when I need 5 minutes with them or if I need help and advice. They use an app called 'Famly' so you can keep up to date on your child's day from your phone which is excellent. Highly recommended."
