Queen’s birthday list – huge congratulations to two Alliance members!

We are delighted to share news that two Alliance members were formally recognised by the Queen in this year’s birthday honours list for their services to children.

Penelope Webb, early years volunteer and registered childminder from Worcestershire and Pamela Baxter, early years volunteer from Warwickshire both received British Empire Medals (BEM).

Since 1984, Penny has been actively involved with all things related to childminding - from managing her own business and a blog, Penny’s Place, to sharing advice and support to others in previous roles as childminding network coordinators. Penny is passionate about the early years and an active volunteer and campaigner. She is currently a sub-committee chair volunteer for the Alliance and participant in the Save Childhood Movement.

Pam became an Alliance volunteer after setting up her own playgroup many years ago. A PE teacher, Pam used a local scheme to promote physical activity in pre-school children across the area and represented Warwickshire County at National and Divisional Council level for many years. The Alliance formally recognised Pam’s valuable volunteer contribution to the Charity in 2014 when she received a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Congratulations to both individuals who received well-deserved recognition for their volunteering work and commitment to early years learning.
